My day as a seventh-grader. Photos taken during my field trip to Red Lodge, Smith Mine, Bearcreek and Scotch-Coulee, all of which are in Montana.

Paddle boarding on the Shoshone River. Check out Heart Mountain in the background and the gorgeous sheen on my calves.

Powell Volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services were called to rescue a man who had driven his ATV off a trail and down an embankment near McCullough Peaks south of Powell. Due to extreme terrain, emergency crews could not follow the trail to the crash site and had to take ATVs of their own to shuttle personnel between the emergency vehicles and where the victim was. The driver of the ATV broke his leg and was strapped to a stretcher and then secured to the back of an ATV so he could be taken to an ambulance, and then finally to a hospital. Rough day for that guy.

A few weekends ago my buddy/coworker Kevin and I covered the Cody Ice Festival, which celebrates the South Fork’s extensive series of frozen waterfalls that make for great climbing during the winter. Here’s a taste of what we saw. All photos taken by me, unless you think they suck, in which case I don’t know who took them.
